![]() If it isn't though, this isn't the most encouraging sign for Fable fans. It's important to note everything here comes through translation so it's possible vital context and meaning is being lost in the process. It is good to be ambitious but you also have to be realistic and what I saw is that it was getting longer and longer and I, personally, do not know if I have the creative capacity to be working on the same thing for more than x years," says Fernandez. If Assassin's Creed is made by 5000 people they will have 150 or 200 and if they do it in seven years, they will do Fable in five. ![]() At Playground Games they have the mentality of doing more with less. ![]() At the technology level, you have to develop an animation, scripting, a quest system, Moving in a car at 300 km/h has very different requirements than walking through the countryside."Īction RPG open worlds are incredibly complicated to do, they take a lot of time and a lot of people. In an open world, how you control a character and the actions are very different from what you have in a racing game. They wanted to branch out with something different and they thought that what they do well is open-world racing games, they lack people with the knowledge of how gameplay is done. "They have taken racing games and they've dominated these last few years, they're very smart and they know what they're doing. Every two years they put out a Forza Horizon, which has more than 90 on Metacritic, with incredible quality," said Fernandez while speaking to Vandal. "PlayGround is very organized and production driven. The other issue has been the studio's "frugal" approach to the game's development. They make open-world games, but they are racing sims. One of these issues is what every fan of the series was concerned with when they were revealed as the developer of the reboot, and that's they have no experience making an open-world, character-driven action RPGs. While the developer doesn't relay word of development hell, it does sound like Playground Games is having issues.Īccording to the developer, game designer Juan Fernandez, Playground Games has stumbled over two main issues. For the last 5 years they have seemly done their best to bury it. And I cant remember the last time MS peddled Kinect. That is like saying, 'I will buy the next God of War as long as they dont do Playstation Move and a horrid launch like Umbrella Corps.' Pure insanity. And it sounds like we may not be hearing about it for a while longer, or at least that's what some new insight from a former developer on the game conveys. Attaching MS to game they did not make or guide is just wrong. Since then, we've seen nothing of the game and heard nothing about it from developer Playground Games, the studio exclusively known for the Forza Horizon series. Neither Microsoft nor Playground has confirmed an event like that, but it would be an excellent surprise to plan in secret.Back on July 23, 2020, Xbox announced a new Fable game for PC and Xbox Series X|S. Behind closed doors, Playground and Microsoft could be planning an elaborate Fable anniversary celebration to bring the series to its former glory. That would be awhile away, but it would still be a clever move because 2024 marks the 20th anniversary of the Fable franchise. ![]() While Playground Games hasn't said anything to this effect, it might intend to release Fable in 2024. Fully re-mastered with HD visuals and audio, Fable Anniversary is a stunning rendition of the original game that will delight. It's possible that Playground is working slowly because it already has a release window in mind. A Nvidia GeForce Now leak suggests one release date for Fable 4, but it's entirely possible that date was only a placeholder. Announcing the Fablegame in summer 2020 might have suggested the game was only a year or so away, but a year-and-a-half has gone by without even a broad release window. As youd expect, the developer is instead focusing on upcoming Xbox One and PC game Fable Legends. Xbox users and RPG fans would love to know when Playground Games' new Fable game is coming out, but so far Playground isn't telling. Lionhead Studios is not currently working on Fable 4, the UK developer said today on Twitter.
